Dyeing Wool is Fun!

in Dyeing, Wool, Wool Applique on 18/09/15

I have (started to) learned how to dye wool!  Oh what fun!  Colors mix and mingle and mold themselves into something beautiful!!  When I am stirring the pot, sometimes an image pops up into my head of the witch stirring her cauldron to produce a magic potion.  My magic is the gorgeous wool my pot produces.

My mentor/teacher/friend Karen over at Shady Hill Rug Hooking introduced me to the joys of dyeing wool and wool roving.  Since I first was shown rug hooking back in the early 2000s by friend Joan, I have always wanted to learn to dye.  I remember Joan telling me that she could see me loving the dyeing wool process.  She was right!!

Right now I am playing with ProChem dye and Dorr Natural Wool.

What will I do with all this wool?  Rug Hooking, Wool Applique, Spinning so stay tuned…..to find out more.

Dyed wool

Some of the colors of wool I dyed this day. Yes, I should have been putting pavers down but chose to dye instead!

First Dyed Wool

This was my very first wool and wool roving that I dyed. I felt like I had dyed and gone to heaven!!
