Wool Applique’ – a new art for me!

in Fiber Arts Projects, Wool Applique on 24/08/15

I have discovered wool applique!

Never was I interest in picking up a needle and stitching until I met Karen Duncklee of Shady Hill Rug Hooking.  She showed up at a hook in with the cutest pumpkin wool applique sample for a class she was getting ready to teach in Tampa.  The pretty threads, stitches, layered technique and hand dyed wool she used in the piece took it to a different level of stitching if you ask me!! So six months later, I ordered Sue Spargo’s book Creative Stitching and bought one of Karen’s kits.

It was so much fun watching the pumpkins and cone flowers come to life.  There are French Knots, Chain Stitch, Dizzle Stich, Couching, Palestrina Knot, and so many more.  Every stitch on this piece was in Sue Spargo’s book which has great illustrations and instructions.  Proud like a peacock, when I finished it, I showed it off to anyone that cared (or didn’t care) to see.  Here is my first piece of wool applique….I am hooked!
